Monday World Routes Special - Canadian Premier To Slash Jet Fuel Tax

MONDAY-welcome-reception-onlineGordon Campbell, premier of British Columbia, announced last night at the Welcome Reception of World Routes that he will introduce legislation to axe jet fuel tax in a bid to encourage air service development to the province.

Larry Berg, CEO of host Vancouver Airport Authority said eliminating the tax of two cents per litre for international flights, along with a freeze on all international airline charges at 2010 levels for the next five years, would cement Vancouver's position as an Asia-focused gateway.

"This is an example of government and the private sector working together to encourage the development of new aviation services and increase traffic while at the same time encourage economic development across the country," said Berg.
