Monday World Routes Special - Air Cargo In The Spotlight

The ACW Air Cargo Conference, co-located at World Routes, took place yesterday in Vancouver, aimed at providing the global air cargo industry with a top-quality forum to discuss issues, as well as to provide the cargo sector with a networking opportunity.

George Alabi, regional director of Boeing Commercial Airplanes Product Marketing, was among the top line up of speakers and highlighted the many opportunities that the Dreamliner will afford the air cargo industry.

The consensus on the state of the cargo industry was that the general outlook is positive and that it is looking good for the months ahead. Air cargo fell off the cliff when the economy stalled but it has bounced back in the past 12 months.

Commenting on the inaugural cargo conference, Nigel Mayes, managing director of Routes, said: "I am happy to see cargo represented at World Routes because it acknowledges the importance of cargo in a traditionally passenger-led event."
