Meet The Winners: Cebu Pacific
Having been crowned the winner of the Airline category at the Routes Asia 2025 Awards, Cebu Pacific spoke to Routes about its successes and future air travel development plans.
Cebu Pacific, one of Asia’s largest LCC, transported 29 million passengers in 2024—surpassing pre-COVID levels. The airline continues to grow its footprint across Asia and the Middle East, while investing heavily in fleet expansion and route development.
In the past year, the airline opened two new hubs at Davao International Airport (DVO) and Iloilo International Airport (ILO), bringing its total to five alongside Manila, Cebu, and Clark. With more than 120 routes now in operation, Cebu Pacific launched 15 new international services in 2024, including destinations in Taiwan, Thailand, Japan, and Palawan.
Cebu Pacific also solidified its leadership in the domestic market, operating 82 Philippine routes by summer 2025. The acquisition of AirSWIFT allowed the airline to add six domestic services to the popular tourist destination of El Nido, further strengthening its local network.
The LCC has demonstrated its commitment to expanding its network with 152 aircraft on order, marking the biggest deal in Philippine aviation history. Speaking during Routes Asia 2025, Angela Lugtu, director of network planning, told Routes the airline plans to strengthen its international presence across the Asia Pacific region and is looking to open new markets, particularly in the Middle East.
The airline operates one of the youngest fleets in the region, with an average aircraft age of 5.9 years. By operating high-density, fuel-efficient aircraft, Cebu Pacific says it achieves the lowest fuel burn per seat in the market, helping reduce its environmental impact while maintaining low fares.
These efforts and successes in route development, along with innovative collaborations with airport and tourism partners, earned Cebu Pacific the Airline category award during the Routes Awards in Perth.
Having won the award for the second consecutive year, Lugtu said: “We are delighted once again to win the Airline category award at Routes Asia 2025. The award goes to prove the work that is happening behind launching new destinations. It's a good indication of what will happen ahead, and we will continue to work with our airport partners who have helped us achieve this award.”
During Routes Asia 2025 in Perth, Cebu Pacific held a series of strategic meetings aimed at identifying new market opportunities. Lugtu said: “Coming into Perth we have certain markets and destinations in mind, and we are very glad that we will leave with so much information to support our priorities which routes we want to prioritize in the near future.”
