Mandala begins Singapore services
Indonesian low cost operator, Mandala Airlines has begun its first scheduled international services with two new routes into Singapore, from Jakarta and Balikpapan.
The carrier has flown a uniquely domestic network until now. On the Jakarta sector it faces stiff competition from 11 carriers operating 219 weekly flights including European carriers Lufthansa and Turkish Airlines operating with 5th freedom access.
IATA BSP data shows that over 2.2 million O+D pax flew the route between April 09-10, Singapore Airlines having a 30% share.
