On the sector the carrier competes with Aerolineas Argentinas which flies a B737 daily, and TACA which recently merged with Colombian major Avianca which operates an 11x weekly service.
IATA BSP data(Airport IS) shows that over 247,000 O+D passengers have flown the route between Feb 09-10 with LAN carrying 45% of these passengers. The majority of passengers have flown on the non-stop services, however there is leakage via Santiago, Chile.
