Kenya Airways W10 Update: 4 new routes launch canceled and postpone 2 routes launch

As per 30NOV10 GDS timetable and inventory display, Kenya Airways has made adjustments on 6 destinations it plans to launch (or resume). Affected destinations are N’Djamena, Pointe Noire, Jeddah, Ouagadougou, Nampula and Malindi. 4 of these destinations apparently is being canceled.

Planned new service to Nampula in Mozambique, due to launch on 01NOV10, has been postponed and now starting from 02DEC10. Further, the service will be combined with Lilongwe, operating Nairobi – Lilongwe* – Nampula – Nairobi triangle routing

*Service to Lilongwe is to increase to 10 weekly with the new routing adjustment

Planned service resumption on Nairobi – Malindi, due to start from 06DEC10, has been postponed till 15DEC10. Service operates 6 weekly with Embraer E170 aircraft

Ouagadougou (1 weekly Nairobi – Cotonou – Ouagadougou – Nairobi and 1 weekly in opposite direction) due to start from 19NOV10
N’Djamena (1 weekly Nairobi – Cotonou – N’Djamena – Nairobi and 1 weekly in opposite direction) due to start from 01DEC10
Pointe Noire 3 weekly service due to start from 11JAN11
Jeddah 2 weekly service resumption due to start from 02FEB11

*These flights are still appearing on KQ’s timetable search on the website (also Amadeus timetable display), but not bookable nor showing flights to these destinations for online booking since they have been removed from the GDS availability and inventory display.

Service to Cotonou remains at 3 weekly, instead of planned increase to Daily, due to the cancellation of planned launch to Ouagadougou and N’Djamena.

Planned capacity increase on 2 of 3 weekly Nairobi – Brazzaville – Kinshasa – Nairobi from 737-800 to 767-300ER from 06JAN11, also canceled

However, service to both Djibouti and Addis Ababa, has seen further increase with introduction of 10th weekly flight, and planned service resumption to Rome starting 16DEC10 remains in effect.
