IBERIA Express to Launch Operation From 25MAR12

IBERIA Express, the new low-cost carrier of IAG's IBERIA, is set to commence operation from 25MAR12. The low-cost unit of IBERIA will operate routes to/from Madrid that are either not or less profitable under mainline operation.

The airline's IATA code is designated as "I2", flight number range is I22400 - 2699. IBERIA will place its "IB" code on I2 operating flights with same flight number ranges. As of 23MAR12, GDS and IB inventory are showing following I2 operating flights to/from Madrid:

• eff 25MAR12: Alicante, Malaga, Palma Mallorca, Seville
• eff 01MAY12: Granada, Lanzarote, Mahon, Vigo
• eff 03MAY12: Ibiza
• eff 01JUN12: Dublin, Fuerteventura, Naples, Santa Cruz de la Palma, Santiago de Compostela
• eff 01JUL12: Mykonos, Riga
• eff 01SEP12: Amsterdam

Certain routes will see entire service operated by IBERIA Express, while some sees mainline and Express operation. IBERIA Express is a member of oneWorld Alliance's Affiliate. Note, as of Friday morning, the airline is still awaiting to receive Air Operator Certificate from the Spanish Authorities.
