Iberia expands Brazilian network

oneworld member, Iberia has announced new services to Brazil with a triangle from Madrid to Fortaleza and Recife. Iberia currently serves Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo operating a total of twenty weekly destinations.

With the new annoucements, Iberia is hoping to capture incresed flows from Europe to Brazil. From June 2009 to June 2010, over 4 million O+D pax travelled between Europe and Brazil with TAP Portugal accounting for 31% of this traffic. Iberia currently takes 11% of this traffic, the fouth largest airline between the two markets with Brazilian national airline TAM, and Air France, second and third respectively.
