Hainan to link Brussels with Shanghai

Hainan Airlines has announced that it will operate new scheduled service from Shanghai Pudong to Brussels effective May 28th. The new route will be operated on a 7x weekly rotation with A330 equipment. Originally it was thought that Hainan Airlines would operate Brussels from Beijing.

There is currently no scheduled service between Shangahi and Brussels. It will be Hainan Airlines only current service to Europe from Shanghai, from Beijing Hainan operates the following destinations;

• Budapest 4x weekly
• St Petersburg 2x weekly
• Moscow Sheremetyevo 3x weekly
• Berlin Tegel 4x weekly

IATA BSP data (Airport IS) shows that over 22,000 passengers have flown the PVG BRU route indirectly in the 12 month period from Nov 08-09 with KLM having a 17% share of the traffic through its KLM hub.
