Germanwings is a low-cost carrier which is 100% owned by the Lufthansa group. It operates low-cost services across Europe. It is an important part of the Lufthansa group, having posted a 24Million Euro profit in 2009.

NETWORK STRATEGY

Germanwings operates low-cost flights on behalf of the Lufthansa group, with its focus away from the major Lufthansa hubs of Frankfurt and Munich. Its major operating bases are located in Cologne, Stuttgart and Berlin Tegel with focus markets in Hamburg and Hannover. It has a network of over fourty destinations in Europe for the coming winter season, which are a mix of city markets and sunshine routes, with a strong presence in Eastern Europe. For the present Summer season, it also inaugurated services to the Israeli capital of Tel Aviv.
