Gallery: Star Alliance opens branded lounge in Rome
July 04, 2018
The Star Alliance lounge offers a staffed bar and barista coffee station.

The new lounge was created in a former VIP room. Big windows give daylight and opportunities to look out on the airport tarmac.

The lounge can accommodate around 130 guests and will open daily from 05:15 to 21:15.

In total, 17 Star Alliance member carriers serve Rome, providing nonstop service to 25 destinations in 20 countries.

The lounge has state-of-the-art equipment, giving passengers flight status updates.

All Star Alliance branded lounges are designed to provide a unique local experience. In Rome, Italian designer furniture gives an elegant, modern and fashionable look.

Located on the upper level of Boarding Zone D in Terminal 3, the lounge provides easy access to the departure gates for Star Alliance member carrier flights to European destinations in the Schengen Zone.

The lounge features an Italian-inspired culinary experience.

Star Alliance now has seven Alliance branded lounges: Buenos Aires, Los Angeles (LAX), Paris (CDG), Rio de Janeiro, Rome, Nagoya (Japan) and São Paulo.

Along with functional spaces to work, there is also a relax area available.

Star Alliance VP-customer experience Christian Draeger said 2 to 2.5 million passengers annually use the six Star Alliance lounges worldwide. “Our eighth lounge is expected to open in January 2019 in Amsterdam. We are also refurbishing our lounges in Paris Charles de Gaulle and Nagoya, which both should be completed by the end of this year."

At Fiumicino, Star Alliance has cooperated with Aviapartner and Aeroporti di Roma to refurbish an existing lounge space, creating the first dedicated alliance lounge at the airport.
Star Alliance continues to open branded lounges in key markets where no member carriers have a main hub. The global airline alliance opened its seventh branded lounge at Rome Fiumicino Airport on June 29.
