Terminal 2 is Vienna International Airport’s oldest terminal building, which was built between 1956 and 1960. Here is the newly designed entrance to Gates B, C and D, which are reachable via T2.

An important new feature of Terminal 2 is the large, centralized security checkpoint, which enables faster security checks and accommodates a higher volume of passengers, making Vienna one of the most punctual hubs in Europe.

The highlight of the new Terminal 2 is the new 2,400 sq m Vienna Lounge, which offers seats for around 450 guests.

Part of the culinary offering in the Vienna Lounge. Passengers from carriers including airBaltic, Emirates Airline and Qatar Airways are among many others who have lounge access.

Flughafen Wien AG Management Board member Julian Jäger told ATW: “We used the time of the pandemic to refurbish the T2. With our new Vienna Lounge, we are certainly at the forefront in an international comparison.”

One of several seating areas. Passengers without priority status can have lounge access for a fee of €29 ($30.71) per person or €49 for two persons.

Food and Beverage area, which is managed by catering company Donhauser.

The TV area offers passengers a chance to relax.

Other lounge services include relaxation rooms and shower facilities.

The lounge’s interior decorations include typical Viennese design elements, comfortable and high-quality furnishings, and a panorama view of the airport apron. In cooperation with the Leopold Museum in Vienna, the entire lounge is decorated with art prints of well-known art works by major local artists such as Egon Schiele, Gustav Klimt and many others.

Small and large meeting rooms are available. Large meeting rooms have an airside view. Up to 190 destinations in 60 countries can be reached directly from Vienna Airport in the summer season.

This section of the lounge is dedicated to the Viennese Coffeehouse culture.

Another seating section. “The fact that all terminal areas [have been] back in operation since March 29 is a clear statement that there are more passengers again,” says Jäger.

Information screen displays departing flights. The lounge is located where passengers for Schengen and Non-Schengen departures can use it. Nevertheless, numerous international airlines have not yet returned to Vienna.

A practical convenience are the four new baggage claim conveyor belts on the way to the arrival hall.

After two years of being dominated by the coronavirus pandemic, Vienna International Airport reopened Terminal 2 on March 29, 2022. The airport invested €62 million ($66.2 million) to completely modernize and expand its oldest airport terminal to encompass new features and to ensure a new travel experience for passengers. Other improvements include an exclusive lounge, new restaurant offerings, a centralized security checkpoint and additional baggage conveyor belts. As a result, the airport will once again operate the entire terminal infrastructure. Passengers will have all departure areas in Terminals 1, 2 and 3 at their disposal.
