The origin of paper aeroplanes is generally considered to be from Ancient China, and they have been used for hundreds of years by the pioneers of flight in order to test the design for larger machines.
During the early 1900s, Aero magazines published articles using paper airplane models to demonstrate aerodynamic principles. The Wright brothers reportedly used paper planes in wind tunnels as part of their quest to build the first powered human carrying airplane.
Almost everyone has made a paper aeroplane at one point or another, some have prospered, but many have not been as sucessful. However, the guys at Chapman Freeborn have gone one step further to producing step-by-step guides and print-out templates for the perfect Concorde and Jumbo Jet paper aeroplanes.
You can download the PDF templates here, and the individual that takes the best photo of their own Chapman Freeborn aeroplane creation could enter the competition to win an iPad Air 2.
Here at Routesonline, we've attempted the Concorde template - here is Dec Maguire's very own paper Concorde Aeroplane. Give it a go, and tweet us with your paper Concorde's or Jumbo Jets @routesonline.
