flydubai to open two new routes

Flydubai will begin low cost services to Muscat and Kuwait at the end of this month. The Emirates subsidiary will begin services to Muscat from March 28 and Kuwait from March 30. Both services will be operated on a 2x daily basis with B737-800 aircraft.

On the Dubai-Kuwait sector the carrier will face its main competition from several carriers;

  • Jazeera Airways 48x weekly flights
  • Wataniya Airways- 21x weekly
  • Kuwait Airways 20x weekly

Emirates also serves the route on a 4x daily basis. IATA BSP data shows that it is a trunk route with nearly 900,000 passengers having flown the route in the previous 12 months.

Emirates also serves the Dubai-Muscat route on a 14x weekly basis, Oman Air on a 35x weekly basis, with Swiss Air extending its Zurich-Dubai service to Muscat.
