And Finally..'The Politically Correct Airline'

A new Thai operator, aptly called PC Air, is ensuring that equality is taken seriously. The start-up will launch flights from Bangkok to Osaka, Seoul Incheon and Tokyo Narita in March but has already secured a lot of publicity following its recent recruitment drive. A spokeswoman for the company confirmed that it had hired “three transsexuals, 17 women, and 10 men”, adding that the transgender attendants would wear gold-coloured “third-sex" name tags to help passengers and immigration authorities identify their gender. Thailand has an unusually large and vocal transsexual community, which often complains of discrimination at the workplace. The Thai market is already very competitive and this move has brought the start-up airline a lot of publicity in local and foreign markets ahead of its launch.
