Routes CIS 2013 will take place in Donetsk, the investment and industrial capital of Ukraine, where hundreds of regional enterprises from all sectors of Ukrainian economy successfully operate on internal and external markets providing the Donbass region with stable budget revenue, workplaces and maintain high social standards.

Football club “Shakhtar”, winner of the UEFA Cup in 2009, is the symbol of the region and the Donbass Arena, the club’s home stadium, is one of the most modern football stadiums in Europe and successfully hosted football matches during the EURO 2012 tournament. In general, good sport infrastructure, which is constantly developing, makes the Donetsk region very attractive for conducting many different international sporting events.

The region is also rich in culture and many famous artists originated from the Donetsk region which is home to more than 30 museums along with six theatres, a philharmonic hall, a circus and a planetarium. There are also numerous cathedrals and churches of XVII-XIX centuries which are open to tourists including one of the largest orthodox monasteries – the Svyato-Uspenskaya Svyatogorskaya Lavra. International Airport Donetsk Sergey Prokofiev, the Host of this year’s Routes CIS event, is one of the major air transport organisations in the Ukraine and one of the top three leading airports in the country. In April 2011 the airport was named after famous composer Sergey Prokofiev, who was born in Donetsk region.

The new terminal was opened in the spring of 2012 with a capacity of 3100 passenger per hour and reconstruction of the airport provided great impact for the Donbass air gate development. The airport, which is located within 200 km from Russian Federation border, has a catchment area of more than 6.5 million people, including citizens, not only from the Donetsk region but also from the Kharkiv, Zaporojie and Lugansk regions and part of the Rostov region in the Russian Federation. Svyato-Uspenskaya Svyatogorskaya Lavra

This amazing monastery is located on the bank of the Severskiy Donez River and is currently home to more than 100 monks. The central entrance to the monastery is located in at the Uspenskiy cathedral and Pokrovskaya church and bell tower whilst underground chalk caves, stretching more than 800m, for the earliest constructions of Svyato-Uspenskaya Svyatogorskaya Lavra. This tour provides delegates with a great opportunity to see both the fabulous beauty of nature combined with spectacular architecture.

Donbass Arena

Donbass Arena, home of FC “Shakhtar”, is the only stadium in the Ukraine to fall into the elite category with a seating capacity of 50,000.

During the excursion delegates will discover many interesting facts about the stadium’s infrastructure and visit areas usually only accessible to players and official representatives including the dugouts, Player Zone (dressing and warm-up rooms) and players’ tunnel, pitch side.

Artemovsk Winery

Artemovsk Winery is one of the largest manufacturers of sparkling wines in Europe. The full production cycle is carried out at the depth of over 72 metres in a unique microclimate, totalling an area of 25 hectares. In these underground galleries there are 30 million bottles of sparkling wine and delegates will have the opportunity to see the whole technical process of the manufacturing department and also to taste the wines.
