easyJet to base new aircraft at BSL
Fresh from Ryanair announcing its decision to leave EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg, fellow LCC carrier easyJet has unveiled plans to an additional based unit at the airport increasing the number of aircraft stationed at its Swiss base to five. easyJet will add a new A319 with the capacity to carry over 250,000 pax per year more than making up for the 160,000 carried by FR.
easyJet currently operates over 30 weekly flights from Basel with over 4000 weekly seats in the markets. The new route is slated to make U2 one of the largest carriers in the BSL market.
