Cagliari to host Routes Europe 2011

The chairman of Toulouse-Blagnac Airport, Jean-Michel Vernhes, today handed over the Routes Europe event to next year’s host, Sardinia’s Cagliari Airport.

Speaking at the handover chairman of Cagliari Airport, Vincenzo Mareddu, promised delegates to next year’s event a spectacular setting and a unique delegate experience. He also pointed out that Cagliari is currently one of Italy’s best performing airports and has registered strong growth over the past two years.

Following on Toulouse’s example from last year, Cagliari flew in fresh, local produce from the island for today’s lunch.

In addition to the usual one-to-one meetings and networking opportunities, ACI Europe’s Small and Medium Airports Group will also be hosting a conference during Routes Europe 2011, highlighting and discussing issues facing regional airports in Europe.

Routes Europe concludes today, with between 10,000 and 15,000 one-to-one meetings having taken place over the past two days.
