BREAKING NEWS: US Adds New EU Flights at Charlotte
US Airways announced today at World Routes in Vancouver that it will launch daily seasonal service to Madrid and Dublin from its Charlotte hub in May 2011.
The new service brings US Airways' international network at Charlotte to 31 routes - six cities in Europe and 25 in Latin America and the Caribbean. The airline said it believes the new flights will complement its existing year-round service from Philadelphia to Spain and Ireland's capital cities.
"Our new summer service from Charlotte will meet the peak travel demand for Madrid and Dublin," said US Airways' senior vice president, marketing and planning, Andrew Nocella. "We're delighted to offer our customers throughout the southeastern and western United States another convenient option for travelling to two of our most popular destinations in Europe."
The new announcements are a sign that US Airways is re-establishing Charlotte as an international hub. Charlotte is currently the largest airport in the US network and offers a wide range of services to the Caribbean.
