Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER), opened in 2020, has direct connections to more than 180 destinations from 86 airline partners. Having reached 23 million passengers in 2023, 73% of pre-pandemic levels, BER is now looking to enhance long-haul connectivity.

In addition to being a strong outbound market, Berlin is also a popular destination for visitors from across the globe and was recently named as one of the best cities in the world by TimeOut magazine.

New route launches this year have included Eurowings’ seasonal service to Rovaniemi in northern Finland, as well as nonstop flights to Armenia’s capital Yerevan and Montenegro’s coastal town Tivat, which start in July 2024. The launches follow new flights opened last winter by the Lufthansa subsidiary to destinations including Erbil in Iraq, Georgia’s capital Tbilisi, and Nordic city Tromsø.

Elsewhere, Ryanair has added six new destinations for the 2024 summer schedule, including Castellón, Kaunas, Birmingham, Trieste, Dubrovnik, and Reggio Calabria, while increasing frequencies on existing routes. EasyJet will also fly to over 50 destinations from BER in summer 2024, adding new routes to Antalya, Izmir, Toulouse, Birmingham, and Salerno.

Additional new service includes flights being launched by Saudi Arabian LCC flynas. Service from Jeddah begins on Sept. 4, operating three times per week.

Alongside route expansion, the BER has also been recognized for its commitment to climate protection activities, achieving Level 3 Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) and aiming for carbon-neutral operations by 2045.

As a member of Routes 360, the only digital platform dedicated to route development, BER has uploaded multiple route opportunities to its profile.
