VIA BER – Unique service for self-transfer passengers at BER

Berlin Brandenburg Airport opened on the 31st of October 2020. After making Schönefeld a part of it, and the closure of Tegel Airport, it became the only Airport for the Capital Region of Germany. The modern and world-class airport with pleasant architecture and interiors made of materials reflects the landscape and the nature of the region where the airport is situated. On top of this, and among the many services passengers will benefit from when traveling there, is a unique service dedicated to transferring passengers, called VIA BER.

VIABERVIA BER is a new service customized for self-transfer passengers using Berlin Brandenburg Airport during their travels. Kiwi.com was chosen by the airport as the first technological partner for building, launching, and promoting the transfer service through the Kiwi.com booking platform and marketing channels. BER Airport plans to include more airlines and other partners to VIA BER in the future.

Thanks to VIA BER, self-connecting passengers booking their travel on Kiwi.com, and transferring at Berlin Brandenburg Airport, will receive a Kiwi.com Smart Pass with their reservation, which includes a bundle of benefits to make the most of their transfer experience.

VIA BER Smart Pass includes the possibility for passengers to receive assistance at VIA BER transfer desks available at all terminals if needed. The desks are equipped with a dedicated phone line directly connected to Kiwi.com Customer Support so they can answer passengers’ questions and provide alternative travel solutions in case of disruptions. Kiwi.com provides advance notice to the desk of upcoming passengers, allowing them to be ready and act proactively whenever needed.

VIA BER partnership with Kiwi.com reduces the time that is needed for a connection, shortening the passengers’ journey time and widening the variety of locations to connect through to get to their end destination. Smart Pass benefits then bring speed and safety reassurance to every type of traveller.

VIA BER is planned to be an open platform for all airlines and technology partners who are interested in improving connectivity, enhancing the travel experience for their customers, explore new market segments and ultimately closing the convenience gap between classic transfers and self-transfers at BER in the future.
