Austrian drops German destination.
Star Alliance member, Austrian Airlines, has announced that it plans to discontinue flying to Hanover from its Vienna hub. Austrian currently serves Hanover on a 3x daily rotation however it will cease flying the route from October 25th.
The announcement follows a turbulent year for Austrian Airlines where it has comprehensively reviewed its current network.
However, low cost competitor Air Berlin will continue to fly from Hanover to Vienna on a 3x weekly basis. Air Berlin deploys larger aircraft on the route with A319 and A320 being utilised, in comparision with Austrain Airlines smaller CRJ200. The effective on yield by the increased capacity in the market is thought to be one of the reason for Austrain pulling off the route.
