American Airlines to serve Rio from JFK

Oneworld member, American Airlines has announced that it will begin new daily non-stop services from its JFK hub in New York, to Rio De Janeiro.

The new service will be operated on a daily basis from November 18th with B767-300 aircraft.Brazilian national airline TAM, already operates the sector on a 4x weekly rotation.

American currently serves Rio on a daily basis from Miami, and as an extension of its daily JFK service to Sao Paulo.

IATA BSP data shows that over 88,000 O+D pax have flown the JFK-Sao Paulo sector between April 09-10, with TAM having a 45% share of these passengers.
