Air India to link Chennai with Coimbatore

Air India will today operate a new non-stop service between Chennai and Coimbatore on a 4x weekly basis with A319 aircraft. The carrier which is being courted by the Star Alliance will compete with the following airlines on the route;

• Kingfisher - 14x weekly
• Paramount Airways - 21x weekly
• Spicejet- - 7x weekly
• Jet Airways - 21x weekly

Over 281,000 passengers flew the route between Feb 09-10 with Paramount Airways carrying 34% of this traffic.
