One of the most eye-catching route launches in July comes from Brazil, where GOL Linhas Aereas will enter the long-haul market for the first time.

The airline is scheduled to begin 3X-weekly nonstop service between Rio de Janeiro Galeao and New York John F. Kennedy on July 8, marking a major shift for a carrier that has historically focused on domestic and regional operations.

Initially operated using a Wamos Air Airbus A330-200 aircraft under a wet-lease arrangement, the route will transition to GOL’s own A330-900neos as deliveries begin later this year. The service also supports parent company Abra Group's strategy of developing Rio de Janeiro as an international hub.

South America will also gain a new link to the Middle East as Qatar Airways launches its long-awaited Doha-Bogota-Caracas service on July 22. The 2X-weekly Boeing 777-200 operation will connect Colombia and Venezuela with Qatar's network via a Doha-Bogota-Caracas routing.

Across the Atlantic, Air Canada continues to expand its use of the A321XLR with the launch of Montreal-Berlin service on July 2. The seasonal route will become the first A321XLR operation at Berlin Brandenburg Airport. The Canadian carrier last served Berlin in 2019 and will complement existing North American services operated by United Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Air Transat and Norse Atlantic Airways.

China's expansion into Europe also continues in July. China Eastern Airlines will commence 3X-weekly A350-900 flights between Shanghai Pudong and Dublin on July 20, expanding the airline’s European network to 14 destinations.

Air China will also broaden its UK presence by restoring Chengdu Tianfu-London Gatwick service from July 12. Operated four times per week initially using A350-900 aircraft, the route returns to Gatwick after the airline transferred Chengdu operations to Heathrow in 2019.

Additionally, Jazeera Airways will return to the UK market on July 8 with daily flights between Kuwait and London Luton, becoming the first Gulf carrier to serve the airport. The Kuwaiti LCC last operated London flights in 2020 and expects underserved traffic flows between the UK, the Gulf and the Indian subcontinent can support the route.

Elsewhere, Dubai-based Flydubai will boost Southeast Asian connectivity on July 1 with the launch of daily flights between Dubai International and Bangkok Don Mueang. The new service becomes the airline's second destination in Thailand after Krabi and will be offered in partnership with Emirates.
