Royal Air Maroc (RAM) has officially opened a new air base at Tetouan Sania Ramel Airport, strengthening its presence in northern Morocco. The airline is set to launch direct flights to six European cities.

The expansion, developed in partnership with the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT), is designed to strengthen regional connectivity, respond to growing passenger demand, and complement the airline’s existing hub in Tangier.

Starting March 27, RAM will operate new direct routes from Tetouan to Barcelona, Brussels, London-Gatwick, Madrid, Paris, and Malaga, Spain.

The airline will also enhance its domestic network by adding 3X weekly flights between Tetouan and Casablanca.

All routes will be operated using Embraer E190 aircraft.

Located along the Martil Valley, Tetouan is one of Morocco’s two main Mediterranean ports and lies just a few miles south of the Strait of Gibraltar.

RAM Chairman and CEO Hamid Addou said the new base will play a key role in strengthening Morocco’s tourism and economic development in the region.

“The opening of this air base in Tetouan complements our Tangier hub and will allow us to better connect the northern region to the main European markets that generate tourists and strengthen the region’s attractiveness for international travelers,” he said.

ONMT director general Achraf Fayda added, “This initiative is fully aligned with the ONMT’s strategy to support balanced, sustainable, and high-value-added tourism growth for the regions.”
