EVA Air Airbus A321
Taiwan’s EVA Air is set to make the Airbus A350-1000 a major part of its widebody replacement plans, after revealing an order for this type in addition to a significant A321neo order.
The carrier filed a brief stock exchange announcement on Nov. 7 outlining a purchase deal for 18 of the largest version of the A350 and 15 A321neos. Airbus also welcomed the decision via social media.
EVA’s passenger widebody fleet is currently dominated by Boeing aircraft. The carrier operates 34 777-300ERs, according to the Aviation Week Network Fleet Discovery database. The airline also has four 787-9s and nine 787-10s, and 12 Airbus A330s.
The carrier has 17 787s remaining on order, which until now represented its only widebody orders.
On the narrowbody side, EVA operates 18 A321s in its scheduled passenger operations. The carrier had no narrowbodies listed on order prior to its latest announcement.
According to the stock exchange announcement, the total transaction will not exceed $10.1 billion.
