American Airlines announced plans to offer pre-flight COVID-19 tests to domestic travelers, in a bid to help customers avoid mandatory quarantines in more than a dozen states and territories. Available for flights starting Dec. 12, the tests will be administered through the Fort Worth-based carrier’s at-home testing partner, LetsGetChecked. The polymerase chain reaction (PCR) self-test kits, which cost $129, will be available for customers traveling to US states, cities and territories with mandatory quarantines in effect. The initial list of applicable destinations includes: Alaska, Connecticut, Chicago, the District of Columbia, Hawaii, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, Rhode Island and Vermont.
