Aeromexico will open service between Mexico City’s Benito Juárez International Airport (MEX) and Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) in June, connecting the cities nonstop for the first time in more than five years.

“Prior to this announcement, anyone needing to travel to Mexico City had to start their journey at another airport or have a layover along the way,” PHL CEO Atif Saeed said.

“Philadelphia is the largest U.S. market currently without direct service to Mexico City,” Aeromexico said in a statement.

From June 5, Aeromexico will operate the MEX-PHL route daily year-round with a Boeing 737 aircraft. In addition, on the same day the airline will kick off service between San Luis Potosi, Mexico, and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL). That route will be operated daily with an Embraer 190 aircraft.

Aeromexico said the routes will be operated as part of its transborder joint venture (JV) with Delta, which is based at ATL.

The JV “celebrated significant growth in 2024, introducing 28 new scheduled and seasonal routes,” Aeromexico said. “The expansion in 2025 continues this trajectory.”

The two new services to be launched in June will bring the total JV routes to 57, covering 26 airports. The JV operates around 90 flights daily.

Aeromexico also operates to Boston Logan, Newark and Washington Dulles airports from Mexico City.
