Air Serv starts Kalemie operations

Air Serv has started operations in Kalemie, Democratic Republic of Congo, to support humanitarian projects, reported the Aviation Tribune.

The area is under stress from secessionist violence, which has lead to responses from international non-governmental organisations.
Air Serv has a Kalemie-based Cessna Grand Caravan that will fly medical and relief workers between different sites that are inaccessible by road.
"We are pleased to extend the geographic scope of our eastern and southern Democratic Republic of Congo operations and look forward to providing safe, reliable air transportation for humanitarian workers in a very challenging and stressful environment", said Troy Conrey, managing director of Air Serv's African operations.
Kalemie is Air Serv’s fourth base in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, joining Lubumbashi, Bukavu and Bunia.
