Air Mauritius shows interest in becoming partners with Air Madagascar

Air Mauritius has shown interest in becoming a strategic partner to Air Madagascar.

The CEO’s of both airlines, Megh Pillay of Air Mauritius and Gilles Filiatreault of Air Madagascar, have met to discuss the proposal and areas of collaboration.
Filiatreault said earlier this year that the Malagasy government were looking for a suitable partner for the carrier in order to help Air Madagascar.
The carrier has debts of over USD80 million, and is carrying out a restructuring programme that has seen routes cut from its service.
Air Mauritius has maintained success since its own restructuring programme, and is currently repositioning its self as a conduit for traffic between Africa and the Far East.
