Air Botswana board loses jobs
Botswana's Minister of transport and communications has fired the entire board of Air Botswana, and the general manager (GM) has agreed to resign, ch-aviation reports.
Tshenolo Mabeo has sacked the board, noting that their failure to devise a clear turnaround strategy has not saved the ailing airline.
“Since I came on board, I haven’t seen any improvement within Air Botswana, I felt the GM [Tozivazvipi Dahwa] did not deliver what he had vowed to do when he joined the airline. I want to start the airline on a clean slate and see if it can at least sustain itself. I am in pursuit of recapitalising Air Botswana and changing its face so that it can at least sustain itself,” said Mabeo.
A new board is due to be appointed as soon as possible, with finance manager Agnes Khunwane stepping is as interim GM in the meantime.
