Air Botswana begins fleet retirement

Air Botswana has placed its two ARJ-85s up for sale as start of its fleet renewal, with its original fleet to be retired by 2017, ch-aviation reports.

The airline’s fleet renewal is in line with the plans to develop Sir Seretse Khama International Airport into a regional hub for both cargo and passengers.
After blaming losses on an aging fleet, the fleet renewal will hopefully improve the airlines finances.
Permanent secretary in the Ministry of Transport and Communications Goitsemang Morekisi said that only one of Air Botswana’s routes proved profitable.
