AFRAA begins 45th annual assembly

The African Airlines Association has begun its 45th annual assembly in Diani on Kenya's south coast.


The two-day event is being chaired by the Kenya Airways chief executive, Dr.Titus Naikuni, who is also the President of AFRAA.
The event was formally opened this morning by Salim Mvurya, Governor of the Kwale County where the assembly is taking place.
The theme of the event is “Changing times – Africa’s strategic alignment”. The conference has registered more than 370 high profile aviation delegates from 55 countries in Africa, Asia Pacific, Europe, the Middle East, Australia, North and South America.
Issues of market access, liberalization, cooperation, safety, infrastructure development and the environment will take centre stage at this year’s summit., according to Naikuni.
Dr. Elijah Chingosho, Secretary General of AFRAA said, “The AGA will evaluate the growing air transport opportunities in Africa and how operators can provide safe, reliable, efficient and profitable air services to support the continent’s development. By taking stock of the market realities, African airlines will be able to mobilize the necessary resources and forge partnerships to grow their market share.”
Chingosho said: “Air transport in Africa is an economic bridge – linking people, goods and capital to markets and industries and integrating the vast continent.”
