AACO annual meeting gets underway in Cairo

The 43rd Annual meeting of the Arab Air Carriers Organization, AACO was underway today, hosted by EgyptAir in Cairo.

The event is being held under the auspices of his Excellency, Ahmed Shafiq, the Minister of Egyptian Civil Aviation and headed by Hussein Massoud, , EgyptAir group Chairman and CEO and the current AACO AGM chairman.

The event continues until Thursday.

A number of key people are involved in the conference including Raymond Benjamin, the ICAO Secretary General, Giovanni Bisignani IATA Secretary General, Mohamed Ibrahim Al- Toigry the Arab League Vice Secretary General for Economic Affairs, and Mr. Abdel Wahab Tofaha, the AACO Secretary General as well as a number of airlines’ CEOs, air transport industry experts and aircraft manufacturers.

The agenda includes a number of important topics such as facing the environmental issues and emissions trading scheme, in addition to supporting the general strategy of the AACO in order to provide the customers with more services such as supporting and implementing the latest IT systems such as the electronic ticket, air cargo electronic systems and other maintenance, safety, security and HR development systems; besides the common fuel purchase initiative in addition to a number of the mutual Arab civil aviation activities.

The current AACO AGM will include signing a number of agreements, as a protocol will be signed between , EgyptAir Training Center and the AACO regional training center. This agreement is to be signed by Abdel Wahab Tofaha, and Hussein Massoud. A cooperation protocol will also be signed between , EgyptAir and IATA in the training field

During the course of the AGM, the AACO environmental team will hold a meeting to discuss the effect of the decisions taken by the ICAO regarding the emissions and the effect of these decisions on the Arab carriers.

EgyptAir, has been an active member in the AACO since its establishment in 1965.
