The Week Ahead
This week the ILA Berlin air show gets underway, drawing an estimated 100,000 visitors, more than 750 exhibitors, and 100-plus aircraft displays. On Tuesday NASA’s Johnson Space Center will announce the four-person crew for next year’s Artemis III mission, which will test rendezvous and docking capabilities between the Orion spacecraft and commercial lunar landing systems in Earth orbit. On Tuesday in Washington the Senate Armed Services Committee marks up its version of the 2027 defense authorization while Senate appropriators hold a U.S. Air Force/Space Force posture hearing. On the launch front, this week should see Japan orbit six satellites aboard an H3 rocket lifting off from Tanegashima Space Center, while SpaceX plans a Starlink launch from Vandenberg Space Force Base on Wednesday.
