Kaman Acquires Parker’s Wheel And Brake Business For $440 Million
Kaman is to acquire the aircraft wheel and brake business of Parker Hannifin, enabling Parker to proceed with its acquisition of UK-based Meggitt. Parker’s divestment of the Avon, Ohio-based business allows it to comply with the European Commission’s competition investigation, which found that Parker’s acquisition of Meggitt would reduce the number of suppliers for wheels and brakes.

NASA Addresses Spacesuit Water Leak Issue
Boeing’s automated Orbital Flight Test-2 (OFT-2) Starliner has delivered some NASA spacesuit water absorption pads to the International Space Station (ISS) to help address a worrisome helmet leak experienced by European Space Agency (ESA) astronaut Matthais Maurer at the conclusion of a March 23 spacewalk. A small amount of water that lined the inner visor of his helmet was noted as he removed his spacesuit in the ISS U.S. segment Quest airlock following a 7-hr. spacewalk outside the ISS with NASA astronaut Raja Chari. Honeywell Readies GPS-Denied Navigation Systems For Market
Honeywell is developing a suite of alternative navigation technologies to combat increasing disruption of GPS signals, intentional and unintentional, with the first products planned to be on the market in 2023. “Alternate navigation is technology that utilizes non-inertial sensors such as cameras, star trackers, radars and radios to provide position information that we can fuse with our inertial navigation sensors,” said Thandava Edara, Honeywell produce director for alternative navigation technologies. New Aid For Ukraine Includes Harpoon Missiles, Attack Helicopters
More than 20 nations announced new packages of military aid for Ukraine following a meeting of more than 40 countries on May 23, the Pentagon announced. UH-72 Fleet Nets $1.5 Billion Logistics Deal For Airbus

GE Tests Global 7500/8000 Passport Engine On 100% SAF
GE Aviation has ground-tested its Passport long-range business-jet engine, the powerplant for the Bombardier Global 7500 and new 8000, on 100% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) for the first time. The 17,000-19.000-lb. thrust-class turbofan was tested over several days in March at GE Aviation’s Peebles, Ohio, test site running on neat HEFA (hydroprocessed esters and fatty acids) synthetic paraffinic kerosene, the most widely available SAF today. EU Mulls Framework For More Coordinated Defense Procurement
