Rocket Lab Opening Second Launchpad In New Zealand

Rocket Lab plans to begin operations from a second launchpad in New Zealand as early Feb. 28, the company said Feb. 23. Rocket Lab has launched its Electron small-satellite booster 23 times since 2017 from its privately owned spaceport on New Zealand’s Mahia Peninsula.




Indian Air Force Sending Tejas Fighters To Europe

India is deploying its Tejas fighters to Europe for the first time to participate in a multinational exercise in the UK. Five indigenous Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) will take part in Exercise Cobra Warrior, operating from Waddington airfield in Northern England March 6-27.

Northrop To Develop Deep-Space Advanced Radar Capability

The U.S. Space Force has awarded Northrop Grumman a $341 million contract to develop, test and deliver a new Deep-Space Advanced Radar Capability (DARC) for enhanced space situational awareness.




USAF Retires First E-8C J-Stars After 30-Year Career

The U.S. Air Force has retired the first of 16 Northrop Grumman E-8C Joint Surveillance Target Attack Radar System (J-Stars) surveillance aircraft, the service announced on Feb. 22. The majority of the fleet entered service after 1996, but the airframes are significantly older.
