Fujeirah airport and MEAC join for award event

Fujairah International has stepped in as one of the main sponsors of the first annual Emerging Market Airports Awards to be held on April 26th 2010 in Dubai.

Organised by marketing and promotions company, Arabian Reach, the Awards will honour excellence in 23 categories of airport operations. The awards will recognise the talented work of professionals from emerging markets in the Middle East, Africa, India, Russia and Eastern Europe.

Dr. Khaled Al Mazrouei, General Manager of Fujairah International Airport said

"It is a huge honour to be associated with such a prestigious event. The EMA Awards provide a unique opportunity for recognising talent from within the emerging markets across the globe, of which the Middle East and especially the UAE form a large part.

“Anticipating huge Middle East aviation growth, Fujairah Airport is continuing to increase its connectivity and the range and breadth of services it offers. I am sure that our association with the EMA Awards will be of great benefit to us in our effort to contribute to the expansion of the market.”.

The recently formed Middle East Aerospace Consortium (“MEAC”) is another of the five prestigious sponsors of the event. Other leading companies sponsoring the Awards are The British Aviation Group, Danish Airport Group and German Airport Technology and Equipment Gate.

John Ellis, CEO of the Middle East Aerospace Consortium said: “The international aviation industry is witnessing phenomenal growth despite the global economic downturn. Investments of nearly AED300 billion are being made to add new capacity or upgrade existing airports infrastructure across the region. The EMAA 2010 will recognise the outstanding contributions that these projects have made and showcase the investment opportunities that they offer.

“We are ecstatic to announce our tie-up with Fujairah International Airport. We’re confident that with Fujairah Airport’s support we will be able to position EMA awards as the premier industry accolades in the Middle East and beyond.”

Nominations for the EMAA 2010 were opened on 1st December 2009 and close on 14th February 2010. All submissions are independently scored by a panel of judges comprising some of the most prominent names from the industry. These will be audited by the reputed international business research and consulting firm, Frost & Sullivan who will compose a list of candidates for the voting process.

Voting will take place from 25th February to 20th March 2010. An elite panel of advisors will guide the process.
