Emirates flies the flag to celebrate UAE's 40th anniversary
Emirates is celebrating the 40th anniversary of the formation of the United Arab Emirates by carrying a special anniversary logo, emblazoned on its Airbus A380 aircraft, around the world.
“In recognition of this exciting milestone in the United Arab Emirates’ history, Emirates wanted to find a unique way to celebrate with the people of the UAE, and what better way than taking the 40th anniversary message around the world with our flagship aircraft. The logo will be seen on the five continents that we fly our A380s to on a daily basis,” said chairman HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al-Maktoum.
The 40th Anniversary logo will be carried on the A380 to 16 different airports in 14 countries over the next three months.
Each of the 40th Anniversary logos, that measure three metres by three metres, and will be positioned on the left hand side of the aircraft take approximately six hours each to apply. The final A380 bearing the logo was rolled out last week in time for UAE National Day on Friday.
Emirates is the largest operator of the environmentally friendly double-decker aircraft, flying the A380 to London Heathrow (double-daily), Manchester, Paris Charles de Gaulle, Toronto, Seoul, Bangkok, Beijing, Shanghai, Jeddah, New York, Hong Kong, Sydney and Auckland.
Emirates’ A380 began serving Munich earlier this week, will be followed by Rome on Thursday and Kuala Lumpur on 1st January 2012.
