Dubai Airshow offers valuable free space to UN World Food Programe

Although Dubai Airshow is likely to be the biggest ever with space at the Airport Expo at an all-time premium, show organiser F&E Aerospace is donating exhibition space to the UN's World Food Programme (UNWFP) at this year's event.

Taking place at Dubai’s Airport Expo , from 13 to 17 November the show is set to continue its corporate social responsibility programme. In 2007 it became the first exhibition to support the WFP’s Air Safety Unit (ASU) and has re-affirmed its long-term commitment to the humanitarian organisation by sponsoring it again in 2011.

Alison Weller, Managing Director of F&E Aerospace, said: “The work of the World Food Programme in airlifting relief supplies when disaster strikes is laudable and we feel it is appropriate that its Air Safety Unit has a voice here at the Dubai Airshow, which attracts the world’s airlines, in order for them to improve the culture of safety among contracted carriers.”

The ASU, which has a Regional Aviation Safety Office in the neighbouring UAE emirate of Sharjah, is responsible for monitoring the compliance with international standards of best practice in aviation safety by carriers contracted by the WFP to airlift relief supplies around the world.

Capt Samir Sajet, the ASU’s Regional Aviation Safety Officer, said: “The World Food Programme (WFP) is the world's largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide. In emergencies, we get food to where it is needed, saving the lives of victims of war, civil conflict and natural disasters. After the cause of an emergency has passed, we use food to help communities rebuild their shattered lives.

“We are grateful to F&E Aerospace for providing us an opportunity to be a part of the Dubai Airshow as this is an excellent platform for us to interact with flight charter companies and promote our humanitarian air service activities.”
