’70s Style

Ecuatoriana began international service from Ecuador in 1957 as a business established by American and Ecuadorian investors. First international service was Quito-Miami with a stop in Panama City. American investors departed Ecuatoriana in the early 1970s and a new state-owned airline was born. The airline purchased Boeing 707s and had them painted in this beautiful, abstract and colorful paint scheme to draw attention, and to compete with main competitor Braniff and its Alexander Calder-designed aircraft.
You know the paint shop had to love this job.
