DAE has signed long-term lease agreements with Turkish Airlines for 10 new Boeing 737-8s, which are to be placed with AJet, the airline’s LCC subsidiary.
Arajet operated its first flight to the U.S. on April 11, kicking off service between Las Américas International in Santo Domingo and Miami International.
LCC Arajet is continuing to develop a network in the Caribbean, with plans for more expansion in the region, according to the Dominican Republic airline.
The airline, founded in 2022, has eagerly been anticipating the finalization of a Dominican-U.S. Open Skies agreement, which formally took effect on Dec. 19.
Caribbean ULCC Arajet aims to launch flights from Punta Cana International on Nov. 1 and plans to establish a base at the eastern Dominican Republic airport.
Arajet CEO Victor Pacheco says almost 50% of the traffic Arajet sources to and from Canada is connecting onto routes operated by the airline into Latin America.
