Singapore Unveils Space-Based Radar Plan

Singapore has revealed a new ambition in the space market. The NeuSAR satellite, making its debut at the ST Engineering booth, is set to enter a competitive commercial market.

Scheduled for launch to low-earth orbit in 2022, the Defense Science Organization (DSO)-designed synthetic aperture radar satellite could be used for commercial and military applications.

The sensor on the 170-kg (375-lb.) spacecraft, arrayed in a six-satellite constellation, could achieve a revisit rate of less than 60 min. anywhere in the world. The DSO partnered with ST Engineering to build and operate the satellites.
