Piedmont Propulsion Systems announces Major Expansion

Winston-Salem, NC, October 8, 2014 – Piedmont Propulsion Systems LLC (PPS) has entered a period of major strategic expansion. The United States Federal Aviation Administration (“FAA”) recently approved PPS’s Part 145 certification to include, without limitation, a Propeller Class 1

and Propeller Class 2 Ratings.

The Propeller Class 2 Rating allows PPS’s world-class propeller overhaul facility to self-approve new capabilities more quickly, and includes approval to maintain, repair and overhaul any propeller manufactured by:

  • Dowty Aerospace (GE Aviation)
  • Hamilton Sundstrand (UTC Aerospace Systems)
  • Hartzell
  • McCauley (Textron Aviation)

PPS remains the world’s only propeller repair and overhaul facility with FAA-approved capability that includes all of the large, composite propellers fitted to the latest generation of regional turboprop aircraft, including:

  • ATR42-500/-600 & ATR72-500/600 (Hamilton 568F propeller)
  • Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 (Dowty R408 propeller)

PPS also continues to expand its capability to maintain legacy propellers for regional airline customers such as the Classic Dash 8 and ATR (Hamilton 14SF propeller) and Fokker 50 (Dowty R352). This month, PPS is adding the capability to provide full repair and overhaul services for

the Saab 340B’s Dowty R390 propeller.

“We are proud of the accomplishments of the Piedmont Propulsion team and we look forward to serving the most progressive airlines worldwide” says Sammy Oakley, Vice President and General Manager of PPS.

PPS and Aerospace Turbine Rotables, Inc., both wholly owned subsidiaries of First Aviation Services, Inc. are exhibiting at MRO Europe 2014 in Madrid (Booth #822) and the National Business Aviation Association exposition in Orlando (Booth # 5045) this month.
