North America and Europe are home to the largest commercial fleets, so it is not surprising that those regions also should dominate MRO demand in 2023.
North America is set to generate $22.6 billion in MRO demand in 2023, with a fleet of 9,485 aircraft in service.
Western and Eastern Europe MRO demand, when combined, are forecast to total $22.9 billion, or slightly more than that of North America, according to Aviation Week Fleet & MRO Forecast data. It is not surprising that the MRO market is projected to face a dip in demand for Eastern Europe in 2023 due to Russia’s war in Ukraine.
Meanwhile, growth in China is expected to stay relatively flat in 2023 because of the country’s Zero COVID policies, but there could be an uptick, with the loosening of those policies in December.
For the overall global MRO market, Aviation Week forecasts a 5% year-over-year growth rate as the market expands from the expected 2022 figure of $83.4 billion to $87.6 billion in 2023.
