Global Regulatory Update, May 8-14

The Civilian Aviation Authority of Australia is taking a new approach to control cable replacement for primary flight controls, offering an inspection regime instead of mandatory replacement of all affected flight control assemblies at 15 years in service, effective Jan. 1, 2018.

EASA has cancelled airworthiness directive 2015-0234-CN for Airbus A319s, A320s and A321s, requiring inspections of main landing gear door tie rod assemblies, effective April 28.

EASA has issued airworthiness directive 2017-0075 for Rolls-Royce RB211 Trent 900s, requiring drains mast inspections and replacement, effective May 16.

EASA has issued safety information bulletin 2017-05 for Airbus A330s and A340s, improving maintenance instructions for main wheel hubs.

EASA has issued airworthiness directive 2017-0076, superseding 2016-0048, for Airbus A380s, amending system equipment maintenance requirements, effective May 17.

EASA has issued airworthiness directive 2017-0078 for Airbus A330s, requiring inspection and repair of horizontal stabilizer center box top skin, effective May 17.

FAA has issued airworthiness directive 2017-09-04 for certain Boeing 707s, 720s and 720Bs, requiring repetitive detailed inspections for any oil canning or cracking of the aft pressure bulkhead web, and corrective actions if necessary, effective June 8.

FAA has issued airworthiness directive 2017-09-06 for all GE GEnx engines, requiring removal of a specific part and replacing it with a part eligible for installation and specifying the electronic engine control full authority digital engine control software version for affected GEnxs, effective June 9.

Transport Canada has issued airworthiness directive CF-2017-14 for Bombardier CL-600-2C10s, CL-600-2D15s, CL-600-2D24s and CL-600-2E25s, affecting main landing gear shimmy damper Belleville washers, effective 60 days from May 5.
