Regional Forecast
“As utilisation picks up due to the increase in commercial travellers, we will see growth everywhere within the MRO market. Fastest growth will be in China and Asia Pacific, with 5.0% and 4.9% CAGR respectively over the next decade. Recovery will drive growth until 2021, but expansion of commercial aircraft fleets in the two regions forms a foundation of the stronger growth trend.”

Moderator Insight:
"This discussion highlighted how the impact of the pandemic has varied widely for different MRO organizations. Some panellists predict a demand recovery in the third or fourth quarter, while others have seen little reduction or have even grown their businesses. Recovery rates are affected by geographical location as well as market sectors. In many cases MRO companies have shifted their focus to areas such as freighter conversions and maintaining stored aircraft, as they look for new revenue sources until their traditional demand returns."

"Airlines are working hard to restore passenger confidence in Southeast Asia but slow rollouts of vaccine programs along with continued travel restrictions are stalling these efforts. Maintenance divisions of airline are adopting passenger confidence strategies such as disinfecting the cabin and there is a belief that better cooperation between airlines, airports, regulators and national governments is needed. Regional recovery is predicted to take two years."
