Indian MRO HaveUs Aerotech has commissioned a large engineering spares warehouse near Bengaluru International Airport. The 70,000 ft.2 facility is aimed at significantly improving turnaround times for airlines.

The warehouse has the capacity to store thousands of engineering spares and components along with aircraft engines and radomes. It will also provide logistics support to airlines in the form of air suspension trucks, which will operate around the clock to transport aircraft engines and radomes.

According to HaveUs Aerotech, the facility will offer a one-stop solution for storing aircraft spares, tools and ground support equipment ranging from wheels and brakes and hardware to complex avionics, hydraulics, structural, pneumatic and mechanical components.

“This warehouse will help airlines operating out of Bengaluru Airport reduce their turnaround times and help in supplying crucial spares as need arises,” says Anshul Bhargava, managing director of HaveUs Aerotech. “The spares facility has the capacity to store equipment worth hundreds of millions of dollars, including small and big components.”

According to HR Jagannath, technical director of HaveUs Aerotech, the facility is particularly essential due to the local climate. “India has a hot and humid climate, and having environmentally controlled warehouses is critical to preserve the life of aircraft components,” he says. “To fulfill this critical need, HaveUs has earmarked lots of resources to build world class warehouses. This initiative will go a long way to fulfill the pressing need of storing aircraft components and prolonging their life.”

Bengaluru has recently been growing as an aviation and aerospace hub in South India. Air India recently signed a deal with the airport to develop Bengaluru as its aviation hub, and all of India’s domestic carriers, as well as many international airlines, have started operations there, including Akasa Air, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Emirates, IndiGo, SalamAir, Singapore Airlines and SpiceJet. Touted as the third busiest airport in India, Bengaluru is connected to 72 domestic destinations—the highest in the country—and 28 international destinations.

HaveUs Aerotech is also planning further warehouse expansions in Delhi and Mumbai. “This robust expansion in the spares warehouse segment is on the backdrop of rising global supply chain issues in India,” notes Bhargava.
