The first Boeing 737-400 twinjet lifted off Renton Municipal Airport on Feb. 19, 33 years ago.
Back when the aircraft was rolled out at Boeing's Renton Washington factory on Jan. 26, 1988, there were already nine customers who ordered a combined total of 88 737-400s.

The new 737-400s had advanced avionics concepts, display formats, and systems incorporated. These included a new flight-control mode and displays such as a "gamma track" feature which will enable a pilot to control flight path angle instead of attitude.
